Winter only feels real when the clocks go back and the nights get darker earlier. Then December soon comes along and lovely lights go up – which reminds us.... 'CHRISTMAS IS COMING!....

Depending on whether you are on top of things or not, you will either be feeling extra festive and excitable, yet if you are like myself and tend to leave things a little bit 'close to call' then you might be filled a little bit with dread... FESTIVE SHOPPING!

For me, I pretty much buy online throughout the year and at Christmas for 98% time, therefore, I am not personally concerned with the crowds of people descending into the High Street shops...(.Where I live, there are not that many decent shops anyway and if I were to do my gift-buying in person, I would have to travel at least 1-2 hours away for somewhere with lots of good shops) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. ”I did have a point though”, which is that either way, it is easy to go overboard with the spending.

I read on the 'Money Advice Service' website that the average consumer spends about £429 on food, drink, gifts, socialising and travelling expenses.

But, you really don't need to go overboard . You should consider doing your shopping online where possible, but instead of going straight to a particular website, you should definitely go through a cash back website, which basically refers you to various top retailers and in doing so, you a commission, which you can build up perhaps over the course of a year and cash out near Christmas time, or dip into it for small bits of extra money when you have a minimum of £20 available to withdraw...
